Product Analyst

Location: Delta, BC, Canada

Reporting to the Product Manager, incumbent will act as a resource for the company to identify & recommend product opportunities and issues relating specifically to product design, pricing and marketability. 

Duties and Responsibilities

Works closely with the current Product Manager:

  • Develop strong knowledge base of all FPI products, systems and structure.
  • Recommend product specifications (including product design, pricing and marketability) for all assigned products & accessories, and guide product design specification teams. 
  • Work directly with the Product Manager, Engineering Manager and Sr. VP, Operations to finalize aesthetics & overall performance and components for all new products as assigned. This includes requesting samples and providing timely and consistent decisions to keep projects on time.
  • Work with the Product Manager, Sr. VP, Operations, and VP, Sales and Marketing to coordinate the communication of day to day updates and information across all FPI departments for assigned products including availability.
  • Research dealers and markets, create, translate and maintain database of competitive profiles relative to product and marketing.
  • Work to determine suggested retail prices for all assigned FPI finished goods.
  • For assigned products, help with the design of and communicate all final price pages and order forms across all media including print, web and other delivery mechanisms.
  • Advise Product Manager and VP, Sales and Marketing on the content of product promotions, product launches, product training and other product focused activities.
  • Assist the Product Manager and VP, Sales and Marketing with the development of the content for product focused marketing designed to optimize sales results (includes brochures, website, product launches, and others).
  • Answer customer (specifically product related questions) and media inquiries and refer complex technical questions to appropriate individuals.
  • Work with Senior VP, Operations to assist with Export leads, communications and product support materials.
  • Manage the product marketing aspects of consumer shows and events (i.e. product material setup, logistics, and signage).
  • Participate in EXCITE initiatives in the department.
  • Various related duties as assigned.

Abilities/Skills/Knowledge

  • Must be self-motivated and self-starter
  • Strong project management skills
  • Exceptional written, verbal and presentation skills
  • Overall strength in research, critical thinking and analysis as well as good judgment and decision making ability
  • Good Internet & email skills in a Windows environment, particularly in Microsoft Office (particularly in Excel and Access) and Crystal Reports
  • Good Knowledge and skills in sales negotiation an asset
  • Travel within North America when required

Education/Training

  • Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Business, Specialty in Marketing preferred

Experience

  • 1-3 years experience in product management
  • Experience in the hearth industry an asset
