Intermediate Accountant

Location: Delta, BC

In this dynamic, fast-paced environment, the Intermediate Accountant is responsible for working closely with the financial reporting group to perform full cycle accounting for all entities in a multi-currency and multi-jurisdictional environment. In addition to maintaining day-to-day recordkeeping, this position plays a key role in assisting with various finance projects.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain professionalism and act in a manner consistent with FPI mission and guiding principles
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and yearly journal entries
  • Prepare monthly reconciliations
  • Analyze foreign exchange positions and their impact on each period end
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and yearly financial statements on an entity basis
  • Perform key tax reconciliations to support tax provision working papers, compliance requirements, and other tax planning initiatives
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and yearly consolidation packages, including various GAAP reconciliations from ASPE to IFRS
  • Assist with Frango system entry as required
  • Assist with preparation of budgeting and forecasting working papers as required
  • Liaise with auditors to ensure timely completion of audit and mid-year review
  • Engage in special projects in the Financial Reporting group
  • Collaborate with other areas & members of the Finance Department as needed
  • Follow all organizational Health & Safety programs; actively participate in Health & Safety training with the purpose of gaining knowledge and understanding
  • Contribute to a positive work environment focusing on Lean and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Other related duties as required  

Abilities/Skills/Knowledge

  • Reliable, strong work ethic, trustworthy, keeping sensitive information in confidence, and carries a positive team attitude
  • Advanced working knowledge of Excel and comfortable with technology/other MS Office apps, including ERP systems (Epicor 9+ an asset), and Business Intelligence (Cubes)
  • Strong organizational skills; able to prioritize and effectively manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy
  • Strong financial acumen and analytical agility
  • Excellent communication skills (written/verbal) in English
  • Ability to develop and maintain working relationships with management and employees

Education/Training

  • University/Bachelor’s degree in Business (Accounting and/or Finance)
  • Professional Accounting designation (CPA//CGA/CA/CMA) or in process of obtaining designation

Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in a similar role (public accounting firm experience is an asset)
  • Experience working in a multi-national, multi-currency environment, under IFRS reporting requirements is an asset
