CNC Programmer

Location: Delta, B.C.

In this dynamic, fast-paced environment, the CNC Programmer is responsible for Machine Scheduling as well as CNC programming of automated punch, laser, punch/laser combo and brake press equipment. Reporting to the CNC Programming Supervisor, this position points to the daily machine priorities such as coordinating, communicating and requirements of the machines, and focuses on resolving and troubleshooting problems/discrepancies with preventative measures.
 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain Turret and Laser Schedule to execute Unit & Accessory MPS, R&D, & Warranty requirements
  • Maintain the daily Machine Priority (determine which machine to run & when)
  • Coordinate nightly priority of parts to be completed for the next morning
  • Interaction and troubleshooting with parts supervisor with regards to shortages & machine issues
  • CNC Programming of Turret punch presses, Lasers, Punch/Laser Combo and Brake Presses
  • Adjust necessary machinery to optimize production while maintaining quality
  • Perform basic machine maintenance such as cleaning/sharpening
  • Maintain professionalism and act in a manner consistent with FPI mission and guiding principles
  • Follow all organizational Health & Safety programs; actively participate in Health & Safety training with the purpose of gaining knowledge and understanding
  • Contribute to a positive work environment focusing on Lean and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Other related duties as assigned

  • Good knowledge of CAD systems, preferably Solid Works
  • Understanding of press brake forming techniques and tooling
  • Good understanding of CNC punch and die tooling and their application

Education/Training

  • CNC Programming Certificate and/or on-site/off-site training

Experience

  • Work experience in a Manufacturing environment an asset
  • Sheet metal industry experience
  • Basic knowledge of operating CNC punch, laser and press brake equipment
  • Understanding, but not limited to, Prima Power turrets and Trumpf Lasers, Punch/Laser Combo and Brake Presses
  • Working knowledge of Jetcam and Trumpf programming software
