Lead Shipper/Receiver (Sycamore)

Location: Sycamore, IL

In this dynamic, fast-paced environment, The Lead Shipper/Receiver is responsible for the shipping and receiving of all FPI inventory and merchandise on a regular basis, while working under the guidance of the Operations Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop strategies and controls necessary to increase shipping efficiencies and decrease shipping costs
  • In the absence of the Operations Manager, apply the rules policies and procedures pertaining to the warehouse 
  • Act as a key holder for the branch; carry out opening and closing procedures when necessary
  • Provide input and recommendations for new and revised procedures for more efficient flow in warehouse
  • Serve as a liaison between Operations manager, employees and truck lines
  • Train and develop employees in shipping, receiving and warehousing activities
  • Ship and receive all products into and out of the warehouse
  • Complete daily cycle counts
  • Accurately account for all merchandise leaving the facility on a daily basis
  • Keep all products properly packaged and labeled for shipping
  • Keep all units rotated using the first in first out rule
  • Keep the warehouse equipment maintained and keep a monthly log 
  • Daily setup and inventory counts, resolution of discrepancies
  • Maintain a clean and orderly warehouse
  • Maintain professionalism and act in a manner consistent with FPI mission and guiding principles
  • Follow all Health & Safety programs; actively participate in Health & Safety training with the purpose of gaining knowledge and understanding
  • Contribute to a positive work environment focusing on Lean and continuous improvement initiatives 
  • Other related duties as assigned

  • Good Computer Skills Desktop & Hand Held Preferred
  • Forklift Certified
  • Demonstrated attention to detail 

Education/Training

  • High School diploma or equivalent

Experience

  • 3+ years or more working in a warehouse capacity
  • Extensive Forklift Experience Required
